The Cheapest Yet The Best DIY House Cleaning Solutions

Certain things are better “home brewed” or famously known as DIY products than store bought versions. The idea of creating something out from your baking soda to clean your white spring counter tops in spirit of saving money, knowledge about the contents of the cleaning products, and a little excitement in the process of creating something is amazing and rewarding. Imagine cutting cost on your cleaning agents because you create them is can make you save up for that brand new phone or new dress.

More often than not store bought cleaning solutions have been laced up with chemicals that can actually harm you and your family. In a recent study by the US Poison Control Centers, cleaning products were responsible for   10% of all toxic exposures reported. Some of the health hazards that store bought cleaning solutions can have immediate effects on are skin or respiratory irritation, watery eyes, or chemical burns while some are associated with chronic or long term effect such as cancer.

DIY lists for solutions can be endless, some of them are made from literally what your kitchen has to almost like store bought solutions. But if inexpensive and effective cleaning solution is a must, then you must try these common non-toxic products.

These products are often used alone or with a few other products that clean your house just as effective as store bought chemical laced product.

    • Vinegar – Vinegar has been a household name since the beginning. Vinegar has 2 types, the diluted white vinegar and the undiluted white vinegar. Diluted white vinegar is mildly acidic vinegar that dissolves dirt, its aroma disappears when it dries and it is often used for everyday cleaning. It can be combined with other products or used alone, either of it would be effective. Undiluted white vinegar makes quick work and solves tougher cleaning problems. It is best used in cleaning bowls with water. Pour first a bucket of water into the toilet then pour the undiluted vinegar, scrub the toilet with a toilet brush to remove the stains or use pumice stone to remove hard water rings. Though very effective, vinegar should not be used on natural stone such as your white spring granite. Overtime natural stones are destroyed by acidic solutions.
    • Baking Soda – its mild abrasive and deodorizing property makes it a perfect cleaning product, it is as effective as the harsh chemical used in store bought products. It is commonly used with water to make a paste of baking soda. It is best used in tub or sink. Just allow it to stand for 10 – 20 minutes until the dirt have soften and can be removed.
    • Rubbing Alcohol – Primarily a disinfectant but it is also a cleaning solution for your windows, mirrors and gives a shiny finish on hard surface ceramic tiles.
    • Lemon Juice – That refreshing juice can actually cut through grease and shines hard surfaces, plus don’t forget that it smells amazing!
    • Castile Soap – this soap is made from 100% plant oil meaning it is 100% natural and safe for you and your family. This soap actually cuts through grease that makes it a good cleaning product. Along with tea tree oil and water, it makes a good home made multipurpose cleaner.

But before you indulge yourself and turn your garage into a makeshift DIY laboratory, research first. Look into websites the guidelines and dos and don’t, that would help you in your DIY experience. Look into what would fit you and your family. Would the ingredients used for your DIY be harmful for my white spring granite counter tops? Should I use all natural ingredients or should I need chemicals for my DIY? Also look if your family are/would be allergic to any of your DIY ingredients. You may cut expenses for your cleaning agents but you spend too much on the anti histamines tablets, or worse hospital bills.
