Tips in Cleaning Granite Countertops in The Kitchen
Many homeowners love the durability and elegance of granite countertops. It’s natural veins and colors add more beauty to it. Granite is very easy to maintain, you get water and a soft cloth and wipe off the dirt and it’s clean again, however, there are some cases wherein a simple water wipe cannot fix acidic substances in the countertop. Residues from grease and soap may build up when left unattended which will then make the granite less attractive and old looking. But that shouldn’t be a problem since there are kitchen hacks that we have listed that might be helpful to you when cleaning granite with serious dullness.

To regularly keep your granite shiny and clean, you need to:
Always wipe your granite whenever there are excess oil and dirt on it. Don’t let them bed on your countertop. You can use a clean white cloth soaked in water and wipe off the dirt. If the stain is too hard to remove with water, you can use rubbing alcohol or liquid dish washing soap.
What about cleaning it with Baking Soda?
Baking soda is an abrasive which means that it has the ability to clean a hard surface by rubbing it together like that of your stained countertop. A volcanic cleaning chemical is composed of baking soda and vinegar. Both are have acidic – base reaction making them cut through solid grease and stains on your countertop. Mix the two together and apply them on your countertop. Leave for 2-3 minutes. Use white cloth and gently brush off the volcanic mixture. Then clean with water. Doing this will make your countertop gleaming in white, and will renew its original beauty.

How to Prevent Future Stains
To prevent your countertop from stains, coat it with a sealer. Ask your countertop manufacturer what sealer products to use. It’s very important that you clean your countertop before applying the coat. Use a rag or spray bottle to apply the sealer on the granite. Make sure you spray it evenly on the granite surface. Wait for it to totally dry, and apply as much as 2-3 coats for a more effective result. Renew the protective coating by resealing your countertop at least once a year.
